This review is not about the ORX performance which could be similar to that of an XP Deus since both machines use the same HF search coils - actual metal detectors in any 3-piece model of the XP’s selectable-frequency VLF platform. I think that the ORX can operate easily and very effectively as a coin, jewelry and relic detector, and people with eyesight limitations and a desire to detect more and setup less may like the ORX very much. I hope to try the ORX with one of the X35 coils in the future even though the 9-inch round HF coil is plenty deep. However, the ORX is only a three tone audio detector in discrimination mode. This is why I have not missed horseshoe graph or the XY graph of the Deus. ![]() Unlike the Deus, the ORX has ID normalization support for the HF coils along with a large numerical target ID screen and easy to read iron probability graph. I also have both Equinox detectors, and a Makro Gold Kruzer which I thoroughly enjoy. I recently bough the XP ORX even after reading several negative reviews about it. I often found the audio features on the Deus quite cumbersome and not effective because of the lack of ID normalization. This was mostly because V4.1 did not support ID Normalization on the HF coils and the latest software still does not I think? It made coin and jewelry detecting very annoying and unless I set it up for full tones it was impossible to know if my target was a US nickel ID normalized 65 and a US silver dollar ID normalized 95 by tone or target ID since all of them were an extremely high tone and gave ID numbers from 90 to 95. The Deus as configured was an outstanding gold prospecting detector in gold field, but using any of the discriminated preset programs resulted in extremely high up averaging of numerical target IDs and tones on US coins deeper than 3 inches in my moderate to mineralized dirt. I used to own the XP Deus V4.1 with both high frequency coils since I am a coin, jewelry, relic hunter and a gold prospector. Great for people with eyesight limitations and a desire to setup less! in Jeremi -Īdded XP ORX to my Minelab Equinox 800 and Nokta A nice iron volume update and full tones would make this more attractive. I love the simple operation and raw power and speed.
